Teaching is an accumulation of knowledge acquired through time

Uncategorized, by mfe.

“Teaching is an accumulation of knowledge acquired through time”, stated the Duke of Veragua to the students of the Ruben Dario Carles School in Cocle.

Cristobal Colon de Carvajal, twentieth Duke of Veragua, was the main speaker at the 52nd anniversary of the foundation of the Educational Center Ruben Dario Carles in the province of Cocle.

Given the importance of the reflections shared in that auditorium by this distinguished visitor, we reproduce what was expressed by the descendent of the Genovese admiral

Good morning all.  Exactly a year ago we were here at this school with all the flavor of its age and the formation it has given to many generations, today we are here in this same auditorium again.

I would like to mention engineer Fifer, who has made this project possible for this school.

I would like to greet Mr. Fernando Nunez Fabrega, governor of the province of Cocle, who is joining us today, Mr. Ruben Dario Carles, who has dedicated many years of his life to teaching through the vital instrument that is a book.

He has written many books dedicated to the formation of adults, which I have pleasantly read, in a representative sample he gave me here and which I affectionately keep at home.

I would also like to greet Mrs. Nereida Torres from the Ruben Dario Carles School and all of you listening to me at this time.

I would like to make a brief reflection of what teaching means in the fundamental context of today’s towns and modern civilization, we want everything fast and that our young get used to having it all immediately, and teaching is precisely the contrary, it is an accumulation of knowledge obtained through time and with great effort, which has to be exemplary from the first day you sit on a school desk.

Through effort is how the vital projects of all the important people in our life are accomplished

I have never met anyone who has done a defining project without effort, my ancestor is an example of tall this, an example of perseverance in the presence of an idea that came along the way.

He carried it out based on constant and efficient work, it was an idea that only existed inside the mind of a Florentine physics mathematician and he made it a reality

The initial refusal of his project did not discouraged him and he moved on, we all know that on April 30th 1942 was issued the document that granted two caravels to carry on with the project.  This is an example of a life’s work dedicated to building an idea.
