EXECUTIVE PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
The company, Petaquilla Gold S.A. provided support to the Authority of Water Resources of Panama (ARAP), with a day dedicated to the cleaning of the beaches on the Caribbean coast, activity carried out to create awareness among the population of this region of the country, to guard marine resources and maintaining the fishing industry in a sustainable manner.
The Regional Director of ARAP in Colon, Abdiel Martinez, stressed that this beach cleanup day is the start of a gigantic task in the Caribbean province and lamented that many solid waste are deposited in beaches and coasts along the province of Colon.
“I think that with this we will provide the community with the necessary tools that will create awareness on the importance of the conservation of marine resources,” said Mr. Martinez.
For its part, the President of Petaquilla Gold, Rodrigo Esquivel, stressed that this is the kind of support that the company gives, both to the authorities and communities, and expressed his satisfaction in being able to help for the first time since beginning of this management period of ARAP in Colon, support he expects will be an ongoing initiative.
“I think it is the beginning of an important relationship important between Petaquilla Gold S. A. & ARAP, because we are both aware and very conscious that we must protect the environment,” said Mr. Esquivel.
He reiterated that this company is very jealous with everything that has to do with the environment, which has shown with the reforestation plan of more than a thousand hectares and the conservation of water resources.
“In this regard we join and we sympathize with ARAP for the protection of everything that has to do with our bodies of water, because water itself is the source life and if there is no water, there is no life, and it is important to protect it, You can count on Petaquilla Gold, for everything that regards cleaning and protecting the environment Sir, Director of ARAP”, he stated.
To reiterate his appreciation, Mr. Martinez pointed out that there are many species in danger of extinction; while the accumulation of garbage in coastal areas makes it impossible for communities to exploit resources for the fishing industry.
He stressed the fact that the donation of tools and implements provided by Petaquilla Gold will be used for the works towards cleaning the province of Colon.
“These tools will always be at the disposal of ARAP and for any institution that requires its use, we will manage them in a responsible manner,” said Mr. Martinez.
Petaquilla Gold. S. A. is one of the companies, part of the Petaquilla Group, consortium led by the Panamanian businessman Richard Fifer- Carles.
